After the success of the Bell Lap cyclocross-specific bar, Salsa wisely decided to expand on the design and try and bridge the gap between the Bell Lap and a standard road bar.
The Cowbell 2 has the same 12° flare at the base of the bars for stability in rough terrain, however they offer a shallower drop and an increasing radius bend to make them feel similar to a standard road bar. In short take a standard road bar and bend out each bottom drop by 6° each and you have the Cowbell 2.
The center of the bar at the stem clamping area is 31.8 that budges down to normal diameter. The bars are constructed of double butted 6061-T6 alloy that has been bead blasted and anodized black. Indents under the bar hide your cables. Overall weight of the bar is 292 grams which is very respectable for this stout design.
