Simple black and white graphics on the semi-sheened Vernice fabric make the D6 a great looking pair of kicks. But beyond the good looks, the Vernice fabric adds a ton of durability and some protection to boot. Similar in almost every way to the Spider SRS, the Dominator 6 adds Sidi's adjustable Hell Cup retention system for a stronger heel hold for more power to the pedals.
The upper is entirely made of Sidi's proprietary Technomicro material. The breathability of the Technomicro is very good but Sidi adds nylon mesh panels to this version for maximum airflow and heat escape. Technomicro is a composite microfiber material created from strands that are so fine that each one is less than one thousandth the thickness of silk. These fibers act like natural leather skin, but with the advantage of better strength, softer texture and lighter weight. Technomicro is also water-repellent, quick-drying, breathable and permeable to water vapor, making it an ideal material for shoe uppers. It is abrasion- and mildew-resistant, easier to clean than leather and resists stretching and wear.
In case you are wondering, SRS is short for sole replacement system. Just like better quality dress shoes, you can replace the soles on the Dominator 6 when they wear so they will easily outlast other lesser shoes without this option. The Caliper buckle and Soft Instep Closure are also replaceable as well.
The new Carbon Composite SRS Sole mimics former Dragon Carbon SRS sole resulting in a shoe that is stiffer and 40 grams lighter per pair over the older D6 versions. Retention is accomplished with Sidi's proven caliper buckle and two Velcro traps. Fit is enhanced with the Soft Instep Closure System and the Sidi Cup. The Soft Instep Closure System is adjustable from both sides, to perfectly center the EVA pad over a high or low instep. Excess strap on the crank arm (inside) side of the shoe may be trimmed after adjustment. The Sidi Heel Cup is an external, reinforced cup that stabilizes and supports the heel, with an anatomically shaped plastic design holds its form and doesn't break down over time, helping reduce heel slip and increase power transfer.
