Training tires are made to be durable and last more miles than racing tires. What makes the Durano unique is that it performs both of these tasks but rides and handles like a race tire. The dual density blended compound is durable and as Schwalbe puts it: great for mile eaters. The compound also offers superb grip and low rolling resistance. The mildly sipped tread pattern helps the tire tread flex and contour to the road as well as increase grip in wet and inclement conditions.
In short, the Durano is a perfect choice for the rider looking for a long mileage tire that will perform without issue that offers plenty of performance. The tire is a great value and gives a lot of bang for the buck and available in either 23mm or 25mm widths.
I ride the Plus version of this tire, it give up some suppleness over the standard Durano. I rode the Durano regular version for one summer on a set of wheels that I ended up selling. Like them just fine, very durable but got one goat head flat through the side of the tire. . The Pluses I bought before Excel started carrying Schwalbe tires, NO Flats for over 5k miles! still lots of room for wear.
