The equipment for power-based training can run thousands of dollars, but the Cycleops Fluid2 Power training kit includes the new Joule cycling computer and PowerCal heart rate strap in addition to the best selling Fluid2 Trainer. The PowerCal uses a proven relationship between heart rate and power to provide quite accurate power data at a fraction of the price of other systems.

The Fluid 2 Trainer with "Power Band Technology" allows for direct resistance level changes without reaching to a lever on the resistance unit. The resistance levels varies automatically based on your cadence and wheel speed directly by using you bicycle's own gears. Built on Cycleops' V-Frame Design, this is one of the most stable trainers we sell.

The Joule is designed for cyclists that train with power and is now easier and more intuitive to use. The display is customizable so you can view the key data that is most important to you. The rechargeable Joule retains historical reporting to quickly gauge your power numbers so you can see what you have done and where you are going. It is ANT+ and works with other ANT+ powermeters.

In addition to all the normal cycling functions, the Joule features downloadable power, altitude, training stress score (TSS) and normalized power. The Joule and PowerCal can be used for regular rides outside in addition to trainer duty.

PowerCal uses heart rate to calculate power and then sends both heart rate and power numbers wirelessly to any ANT+ device (the Joule in this case). The PowerCal system is based on research done by CycleOps in conjunction with researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder. CycleOps and the University staff spent years reviewing the relationship between power output and heart rate. What they found is heart rate mirrored power in a very consistent and predictable pattern. They fed that data into the PowerCal system.
