This wheel represents a partnership with Enve composites which is known for their very light and very true all-carbon rims. Enve's rims are built with a patented manufacturing process where the spoke holes are molded. This dramatically increases rim strength in the critical area of the spoke holes. These hand-built wheels are laced with premium DT Aerolite spokes which we think are the ultimate spokes for performance, low weight, ride quality and aerodynamics.
A 45mm rim section is perfect for its low 1250g tubular/1540g clincher weight while providing all important aero benefits that really come in handy during a 35mph breakaway effort. The other good thing about the 45mm section is it is not so deep that the combination of crosswinds and light riders becomes a problem.
G3 hub is about 90 grams lighter than the Pro and is billed as the world's lightest power meter. Its 336 gram actual weight means there is virtually no penalty over a standard rear hub and weight savings is estimated at least 250 grams over crank-based power meters. This allows the weight-conscious competitor to use this hub on race day to record critical power information.
In addition to being lower weight, the new G3 hub also has a smaller profile with a stealth black finish. Powertap's excellent reliability has been further enhanced with now field-serviceable electronics that deliver better signal strength. One of the less talked about improvements is the wider hub flange which contributes to more even left/right spoke tension thus building into a stronger, longer lasting wheel.
The G3 hub is ANT+ compatible and can send power, torque, speed and cadence to a Garmin, Joule or any other ANT+ computer.
