For those who are wondering about why an apparel company would produce a frameset, we need to set the record straight. Back in 1976, Assos produced the world's first carbon frameset using all of their own, in-house technology. Thought to be space-aged and outlandish at the time, it has now become the common place many years later. At some point Assos decided to focus solely on high end, cycling specific apparel and the engineering of frames ceased. The burning desire to create a low production, high-quality frameset have always been on the minds of the folks at Assos. The latest incarnation of the Assos frameset is now available the masses. Technically it is known as the G.731 eC, but also referred to as the Goomah.
Superb quality and construction meets visually stunning and high performance. At the core of the G.731 frame is the carbon fiber. It was developed in conjunction with carbon engineer specialists using input and knowledge developed from Moto GP motorcycle , GT1 car and America's Cup sailing products. Imagine 23 engineers and designers taking part in a complete design process from start to finish. All focusing on each aspect of design and construction. This includes carbon and epoxy to tooling, molding, geometry, aerodynamics, material fatigue, assembly and performance testing. Recap: singular focus on one size run of one frameset with one purpose. Performance.
The G.731 has a smooth ride quality which we find amazing considering the stiffness of the bottom bracket area and chainstays. Clever aerodynamic tube shapes really make a difference over non-aero-dynamic frames. The carbon finish is flawless weave pattern with a durable gloss coat Custom fork has the same matching finish and has the matching rake for the frames geometry. The gold accents add a touch of accent, although we've noticed they are much less noticeable when the frame is built with components. All cables are internally routed for help with aerodynamics and provide a clean look. Headset is included and the bottom bracket shell is a BB30.
The G.731 isn't much unlike Assos clothing. It is a performance orientated product that is well thought out with an abundance of quality.
