Shoes & Pedals    Road Pedals

Time took the first version iClic pedal and improved the design to add durability in the field. A few tweaks made all the difference. We now see a bomb-proof cleat and thin stainless inserts on top of the pedal body for proper cleat/pedal interface. Slightly updated graphics update the package. All else stays the same in terms of function. With the added durability, it boosts the iClic2 to one of the best choices for a road pedal to date.

Time pedals have always focused on bio mechanics. They provide the rider with retention while allowing the cleat and shoe to move laterally and pivot freely to reduce stress on the knee and ankle. Many riders have found that they cannot use any other system without having knee or joint issues.

What makes the Time system unique is lateral float. While almost all pedal systems have angular rotation built into the cleat, Time offers both angular float and lateral float working in tandem, built into the pedal. In short, this means the shoe/foot is permitted to rotate/pivot and move side to side (laterally) to naturally adjust during the pedal stroke. The fact that both of these mechanisms are built into the pedal greatly reduces any friction that occurs. It is so smooth in fact, the cleat moves around during the pedal stroke and the rider is unaware that it is occurring.

The Time Iclic2 Carbon pedals employ a carbon fiber blade instead of a traditional spring to make the clip-in action easier, faster and virtually friction-free. The patented pre-opening automatic engagement effectively holds the engagement mechanism in the "open" position that makes difficult clip-ins a thing of the past. It is a simple design that is durable and really works well. The pedals feature a large 447mm wide pedal surface that generously supports the foot for solid power transfer.

Construction of the pedal is a full carbon body with a hollow steel axle. These materials help keep the pedal down to a scant 234 grams per pair.

Included are a pair of Time Cafe cleats. These one-piece cleats have three integrated non-slip stabilizers that grip the ground and provide excellent stability. They are not part of the engagement system, so they do not effect entry and exit when worn down. The engagement cleat is tucked away underneath and inside the cleat so it will not come in contact with the ground while walking around. The cleats also adjust the Q-Factor or the distance between your shoes - depending on which cleat you put on each shoe, you can vary the distance from 51.7mm to 54.3mm. This is a very simple and clever way adjusting the Q-Factor without the hassle of a mechanical adjustment.
