If you watch pro racing, you have probably seen the pocket liner jacket on the Cervelo TestTeam and Garmin Team riders during its almost 24-month wear test. Working with pro racers over this extended time gave Castelli time to refine every detail, from the fabric to the close fit.
The Pocket Liner is 170 grams of full waterproof construction in the most advanced cycling jacket ever. It has unbelievable breathability and venting, with race fit provided by innovative accordion-like plisse panels.
The secret of the Pocket Liner is in the Event fabric which is uniquely designed to let the sweat out. Most people produce .25 to .5 liters of sweat per hour and athletes can generate 1.5 liters per hour. Event fabric is designed to expel water vapor at these high rates which means the Pocket Liner will keep you dry where most other rain jackets soak you in your own sweat during exercise.
Excellent breathability means the Pocket Liner is not just for rain. It works in a wide 40 to 60ºF temperature range and ingenious pleats on the side and elbows allow the Pocket Liner to retain its form fit when layered. Other details include a draft flat over the zipper which makes the zipper much easier to operate on the bike with cold hands. A retractable back flap gives enhanced protection from road spray and Velcro cuffs provide a nice seal around the wrists. Lastly, if the temperature rises there are zippered vents under the arm and the Pocket Liner can fit in a jersey pocket if the mercury rises.
