The CycleOps Power Powertap G3 hub is about 80 grams lighter than the SL+ and is billed as the world's lightest power meter. Its 336 gram actual weight means there is virtually no penalty over a standard rear hub and weight savings is estimated at least 250 grams over crank-based power meters. This allows the weight-conscious competitor to use this hub on race day to record critical power information.

In addition to being lower weight, the new G3 hub also has a smaller profile with a stealth black finish. Powertap's excellent reliability has been further enhanced with now field-serviceable electronics that deliver better signal strength. One of the less talked about improvements is the wider hub flange which contributes to more even left/right spoke tension thus building into a stronger, longer lasting wheel.

The G3 hub is packaged as a hub only. It is ANT+ compatible for use with Joule, Garmin or any other favorite ANT+ computer. Some of the other optional accessories include a matching G3 front hub, and a heart rate monitor strap.
