Giro's top end offering, the Prolight SLX features a Teijin AG100 ultra-light microfiber upper that will shape to the foots natural contours for a 'second skin' like fit. It is perforated for ventilation and breathability. 3 velcro straps take care of securing the shoe to the foot. Each strap has offset titanium D-rings that are specifically placed to prevent pressure points and reduce weight.

The bottom of the shoe or outsole is constructed from Easton EC90 SLX, one of the nicest soles we have seen to date (remember - Giro is owned by Easton Sports). The sole is both thin(read: light) and very stiff. It has your standard 3 hole, Delta mounting system with reference marks for perfect cleat alignment. Both the front and rear of the sole have small rubber tabs to aid in walking and promote traction.

The inside of these road shoes features an anti-bacterial insole, used from the same material used in Giro's helmet pads. The insoles are dubbed SuperNatural Fit Kit and are provided with adjustable arch support shims to dial in the perfect amount of support. These are not custom insoles, but the next best thing.

While designing all of these features, the engineers kept the eye on the gram scale - one pair in size 42 weight in at a scant 405 grams! Simply amazing. Although this is Giro's foray in the shoe making business, upon slipping these on your feet and cycling in them, it would appear that Giro had been making shoes for decades - Bravo Giro.
