Campagnolo refers to this brakeset as the Record "D" skeleton brakes. This designation stands for "Differential", meaning the individual brake calipers are different. The front brake is a Dual Pivot caliper for maximum power, while the rear caliper is a single pivot to save weight and increase modulation. The Differential style brakeset is how Campy originally offered the Skeleton brakes, but now they have also introduced an optional Dual Pivot for front and rear.
At first glance it appears that these are the same beautiful calipers offered previously with the exception of a new logo on the tops of the brake arches. Upon further examination, however you will see some subtle but relevant changes. First off, the arms have been straightened to improve modulation and manages to shave a few grams.
The brake pads receive an entirely new compound for better grip in both wet and dry conditions, improving stopping distances as well as a longer life. A new brake shoe coupling/uncoupling system makes it easier to replace pads and the brake pad holders are lighter. Anyone who has ever replaced a Campagnolo pad knows this is a welcomed and long overdue improvement.
