The Bont Riot provides the technology of the and features of the revolutionary Vapor at a more affordable price point. A microfiber upper is used to provide the Bont Riot with a durable outer layer to withstand the exposure to the elements of everyday cycling. Mesh inserts and ventilation holes assist with the breathability. The carbon composite construction of the sole has been specifically designed to ensure maximum performance at low weight. The fiberglass tub style sole has been strengthened with carbon across high stress areas. The Z form Velcro strap (borrowed from the Vaypor) and micro adjustable buckle are utilized in conjunction with Bont's anatomical design to ensure a secure fit.
A word on fit. Bont shoes will have a different feel than most other cycling shoes. They required a heat molding or two to optimize the fit. More and more riders have been switching to Bonts and use in the pro ranks is exploding. Many riders find Bont shoes have a dramatically better feel after a few rides and become lifetime Bont fans.
Conventional cycling shoes offer a dress shoe type shaping. Although highly aesthetic this will cause the toes along with the metatarsals to be overly constricted, compressing the nerves between the metatarsals which often results in the common "hot foot" sensation. Bont cycling shoes anatomical shaping allows the foot to function in its most efficient and anatomically correct position. The foot is supported so it can relax through the metatarsal joints allowing the pedaling force to be spread across the greatest possible surface area. Bont's lateral forefoot support ensures neutral positioning of the forefoot and alleviates common issues associated with over pronation and supination. These issues often result in incorrect tracking of knees causing injuries along with hip and lower back pain.
The real magic of Bont shoes is in the ultra-rigid, heat moldable, bathtub-style carbon sole. Bont uses An Epoxy Thermoset resin that allows the simple, custom fit process to be done at home. Just heat an oven to 140-160º Fahrenheit and leave the shoes in for 15-20 minutes. Let the shoes cool a touch and then strap them on and wait for them to cool. This process can be repeated as many times as required. Unlike other road shoes with very stiff soles, the Bont system virtually eliminates hotspots thanks to the combination of the very rigid sole fit perfectly to the bottom of your feet with no pressure points. If you have ever struggled with hot spots, give Bont shoes a try.
