Vittoria Rubino Pro II Tire
If you could buy one of the top selling clincher tires of the last fifteen years at over 60% off, you'd jump all over it, wouldn't you? Now is the time, and the Vittoria Rubino Pro II is the tire. Though there have been updates and new technologies built into the Rubino series, the second generation is still a favorite of many due to the balance of durability, ride quality, and value. What did Vittoria do with the Rubino Pro II that delivered such an effective clincher training tire?
Every good clincher tire starts with a quality durable casing that is both supple enough for cornering and delivers a comfortable ride, but strong enough to handle rugged roads without compromise. Vittoria used a high quality 120 tpi Aramid nylon casing to achieve these goals, as well as making the sidewall resistant to light abrasion. The casing supports the dual-density Endura rubber compound. Firmer in the center for lower rolling resistance and speed, and softer on the shoulders for grip in hard corners, the Rubino Pro II was one of the first true dual-density clinchers. Best yet, the Endura rubber is adept in both wet or dry conditions, always delivering grip you can rely on. The Prisma COM Vector directional tread compound accentuates the rubber qualities, enhances grip, and sipes water away from the center.
Sandwiched in between the casing and center rubber section Vittoria uses thin, supple Kevlar breaker. This belt is referred to as the PRB system, and it was engineered to protect, but actually moves and conforms to the casing to ensure the puncture protection doesn't compromise ride quality or road feel. The Rubino Pro II checks all the boxes for a great training or every day clincher tire whether you are a competitive rider or an every day cyclist who appreciates a clincher that rides well, offers protection and high mileage, and won't break the bank.
