The SH-TR60 triathlon shoe is Shimano's top of the line Triathlon shoe. That being said, when the shoe was being designed, it was important to add features while reducing weight and complexity. The more the shoe could be deconstructed and simplified the better, while offering the best possible performance. The end product was a pair of shoes that weight in at the 500 gram mark, are incredibly well vented and have an easy entry/exit system with stiff UD carbon sole. Many consider this as the benchmark for a modern high performance triathlon shoe.
Shimano uses their proprietary Rovenica synthetic for the upper. This supple material is soft and pliable. yet stretch-resistant and tough to offer durability and support. Giant 3D mesh panels are sewn in between the Rovenica for the ultimate in ventilation and heat reduction. This combination also greatly reduces the weight of the shoe. A giant reversed Velcro strap secures you foot and with the aid of a looped strap on the heel cup entry into the shoe is quick and simple.
The TR60 carbon sole is supper stiff but also low-profile to get your foot close to the pedal spindle. This increases control and performance. Being an upper-end Shimano carbon sole, it features an adjustable cleat mount which allows you the widest range of cleat positioning. Molded rubber tabs on the toe and heel add longevity to the shoes and provide excellent grip.
