I had the same problem as mentioned above with flaking white leather after only a few hundred miles. This looks terrible up close. It does not seem to affect performance. I find this saddle very comfortable, but unlike other Selle Italia saddles I have and use, this one has thin fragile leather.

This saddle fits me very well, and in terms of comfort I couldn’t be happier. This is a very cozy saddle at any weight, and for such a lightweight saddle it is a real winner. That said, the leather does not hold up to rain. All it took was one rainy 100-mile ride and the leather was shedding a thin outer layer at the thigh contact points taking the screen-printed Selle Italia graphics with it and, revealing a duller layer beneath. By the 500-mile mark it looked like I’d taken a belt sander to it. To be fair buying a white saddle for the sort of conditions I ride in was a sin of vanity in the first place, and the saddle still functions every bit as well as the day I bought it. But I assumed that any saddle from such a reputable maker should be able to stand up to big miles in all conditions, at least for a while, and I am disappointed that this was not the case with this one. This is a wonderful saddle, and by all means you should consider it for your bike, but buy it in black.

The fit and comfort work for me and my body shape better than any other saddle in 25 years. My only complaint is the finish of the white colored leather. Within about 400 miles of riding the white wore all the way off at my inner thigh contact points. A bit earlier than expected. Also, the rest of the saddle has a thin white layer or coating that is peeling like sunburned skin. It makes little white flakes come off and they stick to the black post below. There is another matte finish layer that is a bit whiter under the peeling coating but that is what wore through at the thighs. Selle Italia really needs to rework the white leather finish on this one for sure.
