The Selle Italia Monolink SLR Monolink Flow saddle and Monolink Carbon Seatpost represents an evolution of saddle design that increases power output by reducing wasted energy cause by the friction of the inner thighs against the saddle. Selle Italia uses a single carbon rail that allows a more narrow front portion of the SLR Flow that does not restrict thigh movement in the last 20% of the pedal stroke like all other saddles. Selle Italia claims this saves .7 watts per pedal stroke at racing speeds or roughly 70 watts per minute for real performance gains.

A single carbon rail design has a number of other benefits in addition to allowing a friction-free saddle design. The single rails is 10-15 grams lighter that the usual rail system and also 45% stronger with 15% more side rigidity. There is 25mm more rear adjustment and 10mm more forward adjustment which virtually eliminates the need the seek out a seat post with a certain setback. So this system is lighter, more secure-clamping and has very easy micro adjustment.

An included carbon set post (select from 27.2mm or 31.6mm) has a light but very secure clamp system that makes it very easy to perfect adjust the saddle. The top bolt holds the saddles in place but the tilt of the saddle can still be freely adjusted. The lower bolt then secure the angle. There are no teeth so the tilt/angle adjustment is truly infinite. Seatpost is 350mm overall length and 250mm from rails to min insertion. Overall, this system is a perfect choice for SLR Flow lovers looking for a boost in both performance and adjustability. Considering this system includes both a carbon post and carbon-railed saddle, the price is quite reasonable.
