These SP41 PTFE Cablesets are the same cablesets as the Dura-Ace SP41 Cablesets, except they now come in standard Shimano blue packaging, instead of Dura-Ace silver packaging. All else remains the same and is considered OEM replacement for Dura-Ace. Of course it will work will all Shimano drivetrains as well as SRAM.
Regardless of what component manufacturer you prefer, the industry has always looked to Shimano for shifting precision and innovation. From the first indexed shifters that actually worked to the first brake/shift lever produced in 1991, Shimano has always led the charge. One item that is oft overlooked when discussing shifting are the cables and housings - the engineers at Shimano have spent countless hours researching and developing shift cables and housing that will optimize the performance of their shifters and derailleurs. The PTFE(Teflon) coated derailleur cableset is the most advanced cableset they have ever produced.
The SP41 PTFE cableset is standard replacement derailleur cable and housings for the Shimano 7900 Dura-Ace system. They work perfectly with any Shimano or SRAM shifter/derailleur sets. Special PTFE (better known as DuPont Teflon) coated cables does a good job of minimizing friction and greatly enhances shifting performance. Includes all end caps and ferrules to complete the job.
Cant imagine asking for more? Based on the previous reviews, I prefer cutting my own rear derailleur cable housing to the correct length. All necessary cable housing end caps included as well the fittings crimped on the end of the wire cable. My original Dura Ace cables lasted several years, but started fraying. With the new cables shifting is again back to Dura Ace precise shifting, like riding a new bike.
Pros: High quality
Agree with the comments above. Pretty disappointing. The "Dura Ace" ones were my go-to cables. Considering the price, lack of enough varied typical end fittings, and disappearance of the pre-cut derailleur cable (I know not a big deal to cut your own, but a nice gesture), for these, I'm looking elsewhere.
While we would like to see the Dura-Ace logo on the housing, they are still one of our favorites. Hard to believe these could be rated at a 2.
Pros: Finally available in a color other than gray
Cons: See above
While advertised as equal in replacement to the dura-ace sp41 cableset, be advised that the gray dura-ace sp41 ptfe coated derailleur cableset has a pre-made rear derailleur cable and more of the typical end caps you would expect from dura-ace.
