The Castelli Sottile Due Shorty is a short sleeve version of the very popular Sottile jacket. Interesting story behind the Shorty. The Sottile jacket was always a favorite with sponsored pros, but Castelli designers noticed that the jackets were having the sleeves removed with scissors to convert them into a short sleeve wind/water barrier. At that point, they decided to go into production with this new found rouge garment. We now have the Shorty! It is a brilliant piece and if you decide to purchase one, we can guarantee it will be used far more than you ever imagined.
The Sottile Shorty gives a little more protection versus a vest, but won't overheat you like a jacket. It can be combined with Castelli's water resistant Nanoflex arm warmers for more complete protection.
The thin and low volume composition of the Sottile make it the ultimate storm jacket due to its storage capacity. Take it along on days you are unsure of the weather or climbing up to altitude and it might get chilly on the way down. It offers a ton of security and compresses down to the size of an energy bar and weighs in at under 90 grams. The Sottile is anatomically correct and made to fit the body while in the cycling position. This type of tailored fit drastically cuts down on wind flap which can plague this type of jacket design. Ends of arms and body are hemmed and cuffed. The neck area has perforations as does the under arms for some added ventilation. The rear of the Shorty has a vertical zipper for under-jacket access.
