If we had to come up with two words to describe the Stryker wheels, they would be: light and bomb-proof. So light in fact that the front 29er wheel weights in at a scant 722 grams (9 mm version) and so bomb-proof and durable that Mark Weir won the Downieville Classic DH on them.
The XC Race version you see here comes equipped with a TCS(Tubeless Compatible System) rim and a pre-installed rim strip that makes it UST/Tubeless ready right out of the box. It will work with standard non tubeless tires and tubes as well. They come stock with 28 hole drilling and a 3 Cross lacing pattern. Interesting thing to note here is what WTB calls the '4D' spoke drilling. This refers to the drilling of the rim - WTB took the time to drill each spoke hole in the rim at a precise angle so there's no bending of or undue forces acting on the spoke or nipple, allowing it to pull straight and put equal pressure on the eyelet - very clever. The spokes are Sandvik 2mm bladed spokes, but any standard j-bend spoke may be used for a replacement in a pinch. Hub duty is taken care of by the Laser Disc Lite hub design. They feature super tall flanges with machined reliefs and stainless steel sealed bearings - again following the light and durable theme.
In summary, these wheels rock. They are not your standard add water and mix wheelset companies put on the market because someone decided they need a wheel offering. On the contrary, WTB's small and effective design team spent a lot of time designing and developing the Stryker TCS to be exactly what it is: a super light, do it all wheel.
