The Ultegra SPD-SL PD-6700-C pedals are a whopping 50 plus grams lighter than the previous 6700 pedals thanks primarily to a carbon composite pedal body. Perched on top of the body is a replaceable stainless steel wear plate for a durable and solid cleat interface.

Shimano's SPD-SL road pedals are some of our favorite to recommend for several reasons. Their very generous platform makes them super supportive for excellent power transfer - especially good for riders with a larger shoe size. The 6700-C's have two sets of serviceable, smooth bearings that rotate on a stainless steel spindle. Like most upper end Shimano product the build quality is excellent. Clip in and release action is very crisp and predictable while ride perforce is squeak free and simply superb. The release tension adjustment is simple to use with just a 2.5mm hex wrench.

Included with the pedals are a set of Shimano's SM-SH-11 cleats with six degrees of float (three degrees in each direction). These floating cleats are the ones with the yellow contact tabs. Shimano's SM-SH-10 fixed cleats (the ones with the red contact tabs) are available separately.
