The Bont Vaypor combines light weight and incredible stiffness in a heat moldable shoe for an absolute custom fit. The Vaypor takes the successful CTT-1 design to the next level with a reduced carbon height around the toe box, improved build quality and a new Suede L liner.
The real magic of the Vaypor is in the ultra rigid, heat moldable, bathtub-style carbon sole. Bont uses an Epoxy Thermoset resin that allows the simple, custom fit process to be done at home. Just heat an oven to 140-160º Fahrenheit and leave the shoes in for 15-20 minutes. Let the shoes cool a touch and then strap them on and wait for them to cool. This process can be repeated as many times as required. Unlike other road shoes with very stiff soles, the Bont system virtually eliminates hotspots thanks to the combination of the very rigid sole fit perfectly to the bottom of your feet with no pressure points. If you have ever struggled with hot spots, give the Vaypor a try.
The sole of the Vaypor is only 3.6mm thick for one of the lowest stack heights in the business. Z form Velcro Straps and a buckle securely hold the foot. The Vaypor is three-hole compatible with a MM textured area to prevent cleat slippage.
I never knew how comfortable a big toe box was until these Bont Vaypor shoes. We followed the molding process that is printed in the box. Besides making the footbed correct for my foot, my wife massaged the hot carbon fiber heel for a perfect fit. This results in the shoe staying in place, eliminating hot spots, eliminating heel slip. The molding process can be repeated, so if it is not perfect, keep at it. The whole bathtub design works remarkably well for stiffness without a penalty in weight.
Pros: Super build quality, light, moldable to foot
Cons: Pretty beat up after 4 years and 30,000 mi
Light, stiff and comfortable. Great energy transmission. Highly recommend these shoes.
Great shoes. Very light weight and super stiff. I like the idea of the wide toe box and extremely stiff sole. Great power transfer and no numb or tingling feet.
These are great shoes. Super light and remarkably strong due to the "bathtub" design that doesn't require as thick a sole as competitors. I had to drop my saddle height.
If you like the toe box style of your Crocs, or of Keen hiking shoes - youll like the fonts. They feel so different, that they initially feel weird, but this different is very comfortable. The strap system works well, and hold the foot stable without having to crank it down tight. The low heel looks like it wouldnt hold - but is remarkably snug with no heel movement. No hot spots, no numb spots. Fit and security work exceedingly well for me. Ive got about 400 miles on them now. One quality issue: the ratcheting strap broke off near the tip and required replacement, otherwise would be 5 star.
