Oops they did it again. Ritchey took their fast rolling Shield tire design and gave it a tubeless ready carcass in a 29" diameter for a new sense of purpose. Considered by many riders as the new standard in a fast rolling hardpack 29er race tire, the Shield does not disappoint. Always with an eye on the scale, Ritchey kept the weight down to a scant 583 grams - this means it will lob off a quick quarter pound (or more) compared to most other tires in its class.

The WCS Shield has a low profile VFA tread pattern for reduced weight and low rolling resistance. Although designed for racing and hardpack conditions, we have found it is a good all around tire. The VFA side knobs have consistent traction at all cornering angles. It is tubeless ready so it will work as a tubless setup on a UST rim with sealant or on a regular rim with a tube.

If you are the type of rider that puts a premium on speed, the Shield is a great option.
