If you want or have to ride a 26" mountain/commuter bike all Winter, than this is the tire for you. The Schwalbe Marathon Winter HS 396 tire features an aggressive tread with 200+ metal studs. This tire has to be tried on ice to be believed. The metal spikes deliver full control even on tight turns or heavy braking. One design feature about the Marathon Winter is it can be pumped up to full pressure when the roads dry out for minimal road noise. When the road becomes snowy or icy it is suggested to reduce tire pressure somewhat for maximum traction and safety.

As with all Schwalbe tires, the construction and attention to detail is near perfect. Schwalbe employs a Kevlar Guard belt to prevent flats and a reflective sidewall for visibility. After all, who want to change a flat in the snow? You pay a bit extra for the quality however, in this case - pay more, get more. The Marathon Winter works best when installed on both the front and rear.
