Ridley made a couple big changes to the flagship X-Night for 2014. Frame weight is now less than 1000 grams - a reduction of over 350 grams from 2013. The other big change is a standard 27.2 seat post replacing the previous seat mast design. A standard post makes fitting and resale a little easier plus allows the X-Night to fit in any travel case.
A proprietary blend of 30T and 24T high modulus unidirectional carbon allows the X-Night to shed serious grams without giving up any stiffness while ultra-thin seatstays are engineered to offer comfort thanks to enhanced vertical compliance but maintain lateral stiffness. A tapered 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" 4ZA full carbon fork creates a solid and stable front end. The X-Night has internally routed cables for mechanical shifting for clean cable routing and protection from mud.
Paint and graphics hit the mark with a stunning black and gold scheme. The "7x" graphic refers to Ridley's seven world championship titles and with the performance enhancements injected in 2014 we would not be surprised if Ridley had some "8x" graphics on next year's model.
