SRAM XX1 Grip Shift Shifter
Many riders prefer grip shift because they find it easier to shift. So they shift more often and therefore are always in the perfect gear. Another benefit of XX1 Grip Shift is it happens to be about ten grams lighter than the trigger shifter which is almost always a good thing.
XX1 Grip Shift is SRAM's most precise and durable to date. Rolling Thunder ball bearing technology is a system of three rows of a total or 120 bearing that virtually eliminate friction and play for less shifting force and a quality, smooth feel. Speed Metal refers to full metal indexing for reliable, crisp shifts. These systems work hand in hand to deliver long-term performance under all weather conditions. Other features include a barrel adjuster to fine tune cable tension on the fly and a cabon fiber cover. Both the left and right grips are locking to your grips won't twist or come out of position.
From World Cup XC racing to Marathon to Downhill, XX1 is taking the mountain bike world by storm for some big reasons. XX1 is about 200 grams lighter than the next lightest cross country group because there is no front derailleur, shifter or front cabling required. Secondly, the chainring is engineered to retain the chain where chainrings on double and triple systems needs chainrings that allow chain movement. Because there is a reduced need to reel in chain slack, the rear derailleur can be designed for faster shifts and quiet performance with chain slap virtually eliminated.
