Assos has developed new clothing options for both trail and gravel use with signature features, new fabrics, features and emphasis on greater rider comfort over pure efficiency. Gravel cycling poses unique requirements and challenges for equipment, so Assos adopted the most appropriate features from their on and off-road training lines to meet them. The designers took durable, lightweight, and breathable fabrics in a mobility-enabling fit from their TRAIL Jersey, and embellished it with inspirations from the road equipment: a quarter-zip neck, a security pocket, and a softer collar and cuff material. The result is a hybrid solution for endurance gravel riding or multiday bikepacking tours.
That doesn't cover the whole story, as the collar is taller than a road jersey, while the zip security pocket on the left side seam faces forward- and there are no rear pockets. You get an extended rear, but in the gravel/trail inspired regular fit, it is just semi-form fit for most body types, and has no lower gripper. The Triangle fabric has lateral stretch for greater freedom of body movement and muscularity, with little vertical stretch. The UPF35 fabric is has a soft interior feel, breathes extremely well, and moves nicely with or without a baselayer. The collar and arm cuffs get Sens ST fabric which is even softer and eases moisture off the skin with zero irritation. The sleeves themselves aren't anywhere near as restrictive or compressive, and by today's standards, a bit shorter than most race jerseys. Keep in mind this piece is intended to be worn with a GTC gravel category bib or short with additional storage pockets, perhaps also a small toptube storage bag; and is not a true race piece, but one optimized for serious trail or gravel epics where comfort is more crucial than the speed you'd hope for in a race application.
