Black Inc produced the Black Thirty-Fifty Disc Wheelset to be the ideal combination for medium mountains or extremely windy, unpredictable road conditions. From their research and development process Black Inc believes when a shallower rim is paired with a deeper rim, the wheel system is lighter at the front for more stable, responsive handling and accelerates better due to the lighter mass being propelled forward. When a deeper rim profile is used on the rear wheel, the power transfer is more responsive due to a laterally stiffer rim being used, but without being affected by strong cross winds, since most of the rider weight is stabilized on the rear wheel. Enter the Thirty Fifty, with a 30mm front depth and a 45mm rear depth.

The disc specific rims are constructed by Black Inc from HD (high modulus) carbon and is CFD shaped for improved aerodynamics and strength. The CFD shape is proprietary and specific to the actual rim depth, and is coupled with greater width to make for perfect contours, function and silhouette. The internal rim width of both the Thirty front and Fifty rear is 21mm. The external aero width is 27mm at the widest point. Black Inc struck a balance with this design, as to not be too wide like many of its competitors. In the furor to build all road capable wheels, many manufacturers simply approached this with "wider is better", when in reality the correct rim width for its chosen application is always best. The 21mm/27mm combination of the Black Thirty Fifty rims allows for road race tires as well as allowing the use of tires up to 40c. The tubeless ready rim perfectly seats 25c-30c tires for a road set-up, if your frame allows for overall clearance.

At the center of the wheelset lies the Black Inc + CeramicSpeed Disc hubset. These feature cold forged hub shells with super-smooth CeramicSpeed bearings and a completely serviceable and interchangeable freehub body system. Both hub bearings and the freehub feature the ceramic bearings. These straight pull hubs are laced to the rims with Sapim CX Sprint straight-pull spokes using Secure Lock nipples and can be trued externally. Both wheels feature 24 spokes laced 2x/2x all around.
