Description
Twelve-speed drivetrains pack more cogs into the same freehub width, which means the chain needs to be narrower while maintaining the durability you expect from an eleven-speed chain. Campagnolo's Chorus chain measures 5.15 millimeters wide and uses solid pins that sit perfectly flush with the outer link plates. That flush alignment reduces friction as the chain moves across the cassette and helps it track smoothly through the front derailleur cage.
The Ultra-Link connection system simplifies installation without compromising strength. Instead of driving a pin through the chain with a standard breaker tool, you use Campagnolo's UT-CN300 tool to press the connecting pin into place. The pin expands slightly as it seats, creating a secure connection that won't fail under load. This requires the specific tool because generic chain breakers can't apply the precise force needed for proper installation.
Campagnolo designs each chain to work specifically with their cassette and chainring tooth profiles. The narrower profile accommodates the tighter spacing between twelve-speed cogs while the pin alignment keeps the chain quiet as it engages each tooth. You'll need this chain if you're running Chorus, Record, or Super Record 12-speed mechanical groupsets. It ships with 110 links, which covers most frame sizes and gear combinations, though you may need to remove links depending on your setup.
