Description
BB30 frames require adapter cups to work with Campagnolo Ultra-Torque cranksets, and these aluminum shells handle that interface without adding unnecessary complexity. The cups press directly into the frame's 42-millimeter bore and accept the bearings that come pre-installed on Ultra-Torque cranks. This eliminates the need for threaded adapters or conversion sleeves that add weight and introduce potential creak points.
Campagnolo precision-machines these cups to maintain tight tolerances between the shell and bearing surface. The fit matters because any play at the bearing seat translates to wasted energy as you pedal. Each cup includes an integrated rubber o-ring that seals against the frame shell, preventing moisture intrusion and the metallic creaking that develops when dissimilar materials shift under load. The aluminum construction keeps weight at 29 grams for the pair while providing the rigidity needed to support pedaling forces.
Installation requires a press tool to seat the cups flush with the frame shell. Once installed, the Ultra-Torque crankset slides through with its bearings already mounted on the spindle sections. This design means you're replacing cups rather than complete bearing assemblies when service is needed, and the bearing quality remains consistent since they're manufactured and assembled by Campagnolo onto the crankset itself....
