Castelli designed the Nanoflex Pro 2 Bib Tights for riders seeking protection from the elements in the most inclement of weather. The entire garment is constructed of Castelli Nano Flex fabric with Nano Flex Light fabric overlays in the knee, thigh and rear seat pad regions. You can think of Nano Flex as a system. The base fabric is Thermoflex fleece, with it's brushed, soft fleece inner finish. That fleece adds loft, trapping heat, and releasing moisture off the skin as a byproduct of movement. The woven outer finish blocks a little air, but generally allows the excess and heat and moisture to escape. By adding a coating of millions of nanofilaments to the exterior, water is blocked from penetration, while moisture is still allowed to escape. More heat is held in, and less incoming air means the fabric can be lighter yet still increase thermal properties. That is the premise of Nano Light, which reduces the bulk of the fleece so movement is less restrictive and the wearer doesn't overheat. Rain runs off, but even if the piece is overwhelmed by water and mud, you still get the thermal properties you require. Supportive upper with flat suspenders and reflective stirrups panels located on the inner lower legs round out the design.

The Nanoflex Pro 2 Bib Tights feature the Progetto X2 Air seat pad which is low volume and serves up comfort and performance, with clever design and quality construction. The X2 Air seat pad has two distinct layers, which you can think of as top and bottom. The top layer is a thin and soft top sheet, which is high-wicking, anti-chafing, anti-bacterial and easy to clean. Directly below this top sheet lies the cushioning layer. This layer features a variable thickness and extra viscous pads which cradle the sit bones and perineum. Slightly perforated top indents help dissipate heat and friction, with total seat pad thickness coming in at 8mm.
