The Pro Mesh Short Sleeve baselayer meets a request from sponsored cyclists for a close fitting, lightweight, highly breathable layer with a greater effective temperature range than many super light mesh baselayers. It is made for the widest range of conditions and is designed to keep you dry in cool to mild temperatures with operative concept that temperature comfort from layering comes partially from keeping the skin dry, if not necessarily cooling you down. The fit also had to be just right so it would lay cleanly under a tight fitting jersey, with a hem that lays flat and ideal length arm sleeves to complement jersey sleeves. The pro's loved it, and now you can too.
Castelli's 3D Mesh was used throughout, with simple fold over edges and flatlock stitching for lightweight comfort. The 3D Mesh has a soft hand and moves easily along the skin, pulling moisture away and immediately releasing the moisture. The way the 3D fabric is woven, there are some air pockets around every open hole that can trap a small amount of heat for cooler days- especially when a warmer layer is on top, just to moderate rapid loss from the wicking action. This similar to systems found on winter baselayers, but employed here in an intelligent manner to make the piece more effective across a greater temperature range. To give the pro's some variety and design when their jersey is unzipped, a sublimated triangular pattern offers a little visual pop for the final climb before zipping up to please the sponsors for the finish line photo.
