Description
Modern road riding rarely stays on pristine pavement. The Caledonia emerged from Cervélo's internal group rides where routes wandered onto questionable surfaces, and the best path forward often meant taking whichever road looked most interesting. This endurance platform combines race-derived geometry with the tire clearance and compliance needed when the road deteriorates. The carbon frame accepts tires up to 34mm without fenders, or 31mm with fenders installed, extending the definition of where a road bike can comfortably travel while maintaining the responsive character expected from a performance-oriented machine.
Frame geometry strikes a balance between the low, aggressive positioning of a pure race bike and the taller stack heights typical of dedicated endurance machines. The result handles with precision during fast group rides while reducing strain over multi-hour efforts. Stack measurements range from 505mm on the smallest frame to 630mm on the largest, with reach figures that keep the cockpit compact enough for responsive handling. A tapered carbon fork maintains steering accuracy and stiffness at the front end, with size-specific rake values that optimize trail across the size range for consistent handling characteristics regardless of frame size.
Integrated accessory mounts throughout the frame allow clean attachment of lights, computers, and fenders without compromising aerodynamics or requiring clamp-on solutions that can slip or scratch the finish. The removable front derailleur mount demonstrates Cervélo's practical approach to component standards. Two countersunk screws secure the aluminum alloy mount, allowing replacement if damaged or complete removal for riders converting to a 1x drivetrain configuration. This modularity extends the frame's useful life as component standards evolve and personal preferences change.... Read More
