Description
The Cervélo S5 has established itself as a reference point for aerodynamic road racing, proven at the highest levels of professional cycling. This 2023 generation refines the platform with deeper tube profiles that exploit current UCI dimension limits, resulting in a frame that reduces drag by 65 grams compared to its predecessor while simultaneously lowering overall weight. The deeper head tube and bottom bracket zones work in concert with trailing edge tube shaping to manage airflow across a wider range of real-world yaw angles.
Electronic-only drivetrain compatibility allowed Cervélo's engineers to optimize every junction and dropout without accommodating mechanical cable routing. The result is cleaner integration throughout the frame, particularly at the rear triangle where the asymmetric chainstays and seat tube interact with the rear wheel's airflow. The carbon Bayonet fork carries this approach forward with refined leg profiles that complement the frame's aerodynamic character while maintaining the predictable handling the platform is known for.
The iconic V-stem has been simplified for the 2023 model year. A single bolt length now works across all stem and spacer configurations, reducing both weight and service complexity. The two-piece handlebar and stem assembly permits infinite rotation adjustment between zero and five degrees, and the bar itself features improved transitions from the tops to the brake hoods. SRAM Red eTap AXS wireless shifting delivers twelve-speed range through a 48/35T crankset paired with a 10-33T cassette. The integrated Quarq power meter provides data accurate to plus or minus 1.5 percent without adding external pods or sensors.... Read More
