Description
Frame and wheels engineered as a single aerodynamic system rather than separate components distinguish the 2025 Cervelo S5 Red eTap AXS from conventional aero road bikes. Cervelo and Reserve co-developed the 57|64 Turbulent Aero wheelset specifically for this frame, matching the rear wheel's asymmetric profile to the seat tube contours so air flows smoothly across both surfaces. The result is a claimed 6.3 watts of savings over the previous S5 generation, with gains concentrated at the front end where deeper fork legs, extended head tube chord lengths, and the signature V-stem work together to cut through turbulent air conditions that traditional wind tunnel testing fails to capture.
The HB19 one-piece carbon cockpit refines the V-stem concept that has become synonymous with the S5 silhouette. Cervelo offers nine bar/stem combinations to accommodate different rider positions, and the two-bolt interface allows infinite tilt adjustment between zero and five degrees. The bars use a Plus-Four design where hood width measures 4cm narrower than the drops, promoting a more aerodynamic shoulder position on the hoods while maintaining stability in the drops for descending and sprinting. All configurations remain UCI-legal under current regulations.
Carbon construction throughout the frame, fork, and cockpit allowed Cervelo to reduce system weight by 124 grams despite increasing surface area in pursuit of aerodynamic gains. The frame accepts only electronic shifting, which enabled cleaner shaping at the dropouts and trailing tube edges. Tire clearance extends to 34mm measured, though the build ships with 28mm Vittoria Corsa Pro tubeless-ready rubber mounted on the Reserve carbon hoops.... Read More
