Description

Handmade construction assembles the Strada Pro TLR using techniques borrowed from Challenge's tubular tire manufacturing. Skilled workers apply natural latex coatings to the 260 TPI Super Polyester casing before gluing on the herringbone tread pattern, which creates a more supple tire than machine-vulcanized alternatives. The process takes longer than industrial production, but the result is a casing that deforms over rough pavement rather than transmitting vibration straight to your hands.

The 30mm width provides cushion for broken pavement while still rolling quickly on smooth surfaces. That rounded profile sits lower than most tubeless tires at the same pressure, which means the contact patch adapts to road surface changes during cornering. The PPS puncture protection layer sits between tread and casing without adding stiffness that would compromise ride quality. When run tubeless with sealant, the tire handles debris that would normally puncture thinner constructions.

Challenge specifies the Strada Pro TLR for hooked rims only. The bead design requires a traditional hooked bead seat to maintain proper retention, so hookless wheels won't work with this tire. The tight bead fit makes initial mounting difficult compared to most tubeless tires. The completely flat shape when unmounted means you'll need patience during installation, keeping the first bead deep in the rim channel while working the second bead over the edge.
