Description

While Craft applies its Bodymapping technology to almost all of the cycling line at this point, the technique and application show true excellence when designing a piece such as the Craft Aero Tech Jersey. In developing this race performance jersey, Craft integrated ergonomics, anatomy, material development, aerodynamic considerations, and direct feedback from sponsored pro cyclists. This mix of engineering and human feedback is crucial to refining concepts with real-life action, weather variables, seam placement, stretch and overall function. The three primary fabrics used in the jersey are variations built from Craft's extensive knowledge of polyester fibers combined with elastane. In areas requiring more mobility and stretch, with less heat management (think shoulders, upper back), the fabric contains more elastane and a tighter weave. In areas where heat and moisture management is paramount, the elastane percentage is reduced, and hollow polyester fibers are woven in more open, multilayer patterns that allow air flow, wick away moisture and dissapate heat. Where muscle compression, fit, and support are crucial, a middle ground is found, and the weave tightens up some. The side panels are an excellent example, as Craft has identified the fine muscles along the obliques and rib cag eas needing from support from road vibration. A fourth fabric is found under the arms, where maximal heat and moisture release are required. This soft, open, hexachannel mesh keeps you cool and dry.

But material science alone doesn't make a great garment. The angles and contours of the body in the cycling position dictate the panel shapes and the direction weaves are applied. Even four-way stretch material must be aligned to maximize its capabilities. Examine the back and panels, as well as the transitions between them. Identify the shape and form of the raglan sleeve design. Craft uses its Moving Wing Technology™ to build a form-fitting zone that stretches, moves, and supports with the requirements of a cyclist locked into the drops, but also feels natural and unrestrictive when hard, out of the saddle efforts are required. Overall, you will see the seams and lines are effectively streamlined to minimize drag. The sleeves are longer than a traditonal race jersey, for cleaner air flow and bicep/tricep support. These are the details only a cyclist could provide. Others, like the placement and format of the back hem and arm sleeve grippers, also come from pro rider input. The mid to lower back is highly breatheable, and the three pocket design is reinforced for structure and purpose. A fouth, zippered pocket is located outside the center slot, and access is provided for a headphone or race radio cord. Reflective tabs and logos provide visibility. A truly great race level jersey, the Craft Tech Aero is impressively engineered, and passionately worn. Best viewed at high speeds.
