Description
The Crank Brothers Candy 3 sits in the middle of the Candy lineup, pairing the same 6061-T6 aluminum body found on the higher-end models with a forged chromoly steel spindle and cast steel wings. The result is a durable pedal that trades some weight for longevity and cost savings compared to the titanium versions. At 340 grams per pair, it's heavier than the Candy 7 or Candy 11, but for trail riding, gravel, and cyclocross where absolute gram-counting isn't the priority, the weight difference disappears into the noise of everything else you're carrying.
The pedal body measures 67mm by 74mm, providing a platform that offers support when you're unclipped on technical sections while keeping the profile slim enough to shed mud. Like all Crank Brothers clip-in pedals, the Candy uses a four-sided entry system—you can engage from any angle rather than hunting for the front of the pedal, which helps in scramble situations and remounts. The open wing design clears debris well, making these reasonable for wet conditions or muddy courses where packed-in dirt can cause problems on other pedal systems.
Snap-on traction pads sit on the pedal body to provide grip when you're pedaling unclipped through technical terrain. These pads are replaceable and available in different thicknesses if you want to customize the shoe-to-pedal interface. The ribbed body texture between the pads adds additional traction. A hex alloy endcap protects the spindle end from rock strikes.... Read More
