Description
The Crank Brothers Eggbeater 11 strips the clip-in pedal down to essentials: four titanium wings on a titanium spindle, nothing else. At 179 grams per pair, it's one of the lightest clipless mountain pedals available. The design removes the platform body entirely, leaving only the engagement mechanism. If you're chasing weight for XC racing, cyclocross, or gravel events where every gram matters, this is where the Eggbeater line peaks.
The minimal structure means four-sided entry—you can engage the pedal from any angle without hunting for orientation. It also means mud and debris have almost nothing to pack into. The open design sheds dirt as you ride, which is why the Eggbeater has been a cyclocross staple for years. When conditions get sloppy enough to clog other pedals, this design keeps working.
Both the body and wings are machined from 6Al/4V titanium, the same grade used in aerospace applications. The spindle is titanium as well, with a 52mm length. The bearing system pairs an Enduro MAX cartridge bearing on the outside with an Enduro sealed needle bearing on the inside, protected by a double seal arrangement. A hex alloy endcap sits at the spindle end. The titanium construction does come with a 200-pound rider weight limit—heavier riders should look at the chromoly-spindle Eggbeater models.... Read More
