Description
Precision bearing alignment and sealed cartridge construction keep the 240S front hub spinning smoothly across months of riding. The aluminum shell uses machined flanges for accurate spoke hole positioning, which matters when you're building wheels that need to hold tension over time. Stainless steel cartridge bearings handle side loads from cornering and braking forces without binding.
Tool-free end cap removal simplifies bearing inspection and replacement when needed. Earlier 240 generations required careful removal of smooth end caps that could stick after years of service. The updated design adds grip surfaces that make disassembly straightforward even on hubs that haven't been opened recently. Six-bolt disc brake mounting accommodates rotors from 140mm to 203mm depending on your frame and fork specifications.
The hub accepts J-bend spokes in configurations from 28 to 32 holes depending on which variant you're building with. Thru-axle compatibility covers standard and boost spacing options across mountain, gravel, and road applications. Each hub is hand-assembled at DT Swiss facilities in Switzerland, which handles final bearing installation and quality inspection before the hub ships.
