Description

The Ratchet EXP system integrates the ratchet mechanism directly with the threaded ring, reducing component count compared to the Classic Ratchet design. A single cylindrical spring replaces the two conical springs found in earlier systems, which speeds engagement and positions the driveside bearing further outboard. That increased bearing spacing improves hub stiffness while the reduced part count drops system weight. This freehub body converts DT Swiss 180 and 240 series Ratchet EXP hubs to SRAM XDR road cassette compatibility without requiring tools or special equipment.

The XDR interface extends 1.85mm longer than the XD mountain bike standard, matching the geometry requirements of 11-speed and 12-speed road cassettes. SRAM developed XDR specifically for road applications where the extra length allows proper chainline and shifting performance with road gearing. If you're running SRAM Force AXS or Red AXS groupsets, this is the freehub body specification you need. The interface also accepts XD mountain cassettes when you install the cassette with a 1.85mm spacer between the cassette and freehub body, giving you flexibility if you switch between wheel applications. Aluminum construction with sealed steel bearings handles road riding loads while keeping weight at 45 grams including the drive-side end cap.

Installation follows the standard DT Swiss plug-in design. Remove your cassette and compression ring, slide the existing freehub body off the hub shell, then slide this replacement body on and thread it into position. The process takes minutes and requires no special tools beyond what you already use for cassette removal. The matte black finish identifies this as a Ratchet EXP component—Classic Ratchet freehub bodies use a gloss finish instead. The kit includes the 12x142mm drive-side end cap that press-fits into the freehub body. The same end caps work across 142mm and 148mm spacing since DT Swiss uses consistent interfaces within axle diameter families. If you're converting to a different axle standard beyond just changing cassette interface, order the freehub body without end caps and purchase the appropriate end cap kit separately.... Read More
