All the electronics, strain gauges, and rechargeable battery sit sealed inside a stainless steel spindle that's completely independent from the pedal body. This split approach eliminates the external pods used on earlier Assioma models and protects the measurement hardware from impacts and contamination. The sealed design means no battery contacts to corrode and no power dropouts from environmental exposure.

The IAV Power System uses a three-axis gyroscope to track instantaneous angular velocity throughout the entire pedal stroke. This captures power during explosive sprints, high-cadence intervals, and when running oval chainrings with the same plus-or-minus one percent accuracy you get during steady-state efforts. The system measures actual pedal dynamics rather than estimating based on averages, which gives you consistent readings whether you're grinding up a climb or winding out a sprint. The pedal body uses carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer construction with a stainless steel contact surface and needle roller bearings. At 123.5 grams per pedal, you're looking at a total system weight of 247 grams for both pedals.
