Description

Pedal-based power meters solve the bike-swapping problem that keeps crank and hub systems locked to one frame. The Rally XC100 from Garmin installs with standard pedal threads and moves between bikes in minutes, which matters if you're running separate setups for gravel, mountain, and road. The system measures power through the left spindle and doubles that value for total output, using the same approach as other single-sided meters but packaged in a Shimano SPD platform built for off-road use.

The spindle houses all the electronics—power sensor, ANT+ and Bluetooth radios, and replaceable batteries that run 120 hours between changes. That's the same axle design Garmin developed for the Vector 3 and refined through the Rally series, meaning you can swap pedal bodies without replacing the measurement hardware. If you're running SPD-SL or Look Keo cleats on your road bike, the Rally RS and RK body kits thread onto these same spindles. One power meter, multiple pedal formats, year-round measurement across whatever bikes you ride.

Accuracy hits plus or minus one percent, which puts the Rally XC100 in the same tolerance band as most pedal and crank-based systems. The left pedal transmits power and cadence data to your head unit, with temperature compensation happening inside the spindle to keep readings consistent as conditions change. Garmin recommends field calibration before rides and letting the bike acclimate to outdoor temperatures for 10 to 15 minutes, standard practice for spindle-based measurement but worth noting if you're used to crank systems that calibrate differently....
