With 18 steel spokes in the front, laced in a radial pattern, and 24 in the rear laced 2x/2x, the Ardennes Plus GP weighs in 1610 grams for the set. The CNC machined brake track offers tremendous braking consistency, and is best used with a standard brake pad compound in any and all conditions. The j-bend round steel spokes cleanly mate with the Sonic hubs and fasten at the rim with black alloy nipples. Sonic hubs feature oversized alloy axles and sealed cartridge bearings, with the rear carrying a Shimano 11-speed freehub body (HED offers replacement bodies and other options as well). Engagement is smooth, quick, reliable, and reasonably quiet. Lastly, HED supplies their excellent quick releases for the 100/130mm standard road hub spacing. The minimum tire width is 22mm, with the sweetspot at 28mm. Please keep in mind that the Ardennes Plus GP rims carry a 90mm max tire pressure rating.
