Description

Titanium's natural spring-back property lets the King Cage Titanium resume its original shape after you yank a bottle out mid-ride, which means the cage maintains consistent retention tension even when you're grabbing bottles aggressively on technical descents or during races. Each cage is hand-bent from 3-2.5 titanium tubing in King Cage's Durango, Colorado shop using USA-sourced materials, then hand-welded to create joints that distribute stress across the tubing rather than creating weak points. The 28-gram weight puts this cage among the lightest available while the material's strength-to-weight ratio prevents the flexing that causes aluminum cages to loosen over time.

The cage grips bottles more securely than King Cage's stainless steel version due to titanium's stiffness, which creates more contact surface area between the cage and bottle. This tighter hold works particularly well for mountain bikers and gravel riders who need bottles to stay put over rough terrain. The material won't corrode or leave black scuff marks on bottles the way aluminum does, and titanium develops a subtle patina rather than visible rust or oxidation. If the cage gets bent in a crash, the titanium construction allows you to reform it without the metal fatiguing or cracking.

Ron Andrews launched King Cage in 1991 while working at One Off Titanium in Somerville, Massachusetts when a customer requested a titanium bottle cage. The original cage weighed 30 grams and sold for 75 dollars. Over the decades, King Cage refined the design to reduce weight to 28 grams while maintaining the same durability standards and keeping production domestic. The company moved operations to Durango, Colorado but continues hand-making every cage in small batches rather than outsourcing manufacturing. The standard cage design uses traditional mounting hole spacing and works with any frame that accepts bottle cages.
