Description
Needle-nose pliers and bare hands can technically open a master link, but the process usually involves greasy fingers, chain tension fighting back, and the real possibility of the link snapping closed on your knuckle. KMC's MissingLink Master Link Pliers eliminate that struggle with a purpose-built design that applies force exactly where it needs to go. The tool tips insert into the chain rollers on either side of the master link, and squeezing the handles compresses the link plates together so they slide apart cleanly. One motion, no wrestling.
The pliers work on all common master link styles across 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12-speed chains. That covers KMC's own MissingLink connectors as well as SRAM PowerLinks and Shimano quick links. The jaw geometry accommodates the slight differences in link plate width between speed designations, so you don't need separate tools for each bike in the garage.
Construction uses hardened tool steel with a protective coating to resist corrosion from chain lubricant and degreaser exposure. The rubber-coated handles provide grip when your hands are slick with wax or oil, which is exactly when you're most likely to need the tool. A spring-loaded mechanism keeps the jaws open between uses, so you can position the tips with one hand while holding chain slack with the other.... Read More
