Description

When KindShock released the E-Ten Dropper Post, there was much speculation as to how a sub-$200 dropper would fare in the challenging mountain market. KS is known for high quality, strong performance, and durability. Well, the 100mm E-Ten may not be the equal of the KS LEV, but for the money, it is terrific value with solid, if not spectacular, performance. You still have a hard-anodized stanchion and black anodized mast and cap. The KS standard remote design is the polycarbonate version, but has the same function as the higher quality aluminum model. If you want to try a dropper post, and aren't sure about the value, the E-Ten offers performance and features that will allow you to make the right choice, and you may be more than happy with the everyday performance.

One critical challenge for every dropper post is play in the stanchion interface. In cost effective droppers there is almost always at least slight movement, but most riders can't, and shouldn't, tolerate a sloppy post. The KS one-way bearing system and damper grooves are used in many of the company's higher end posts, and do a great job of keeping the stanchion movement to a minimum. In terms of actual performance, a smooth and consistent release and motion are the benchmarks. The sealed, steel hydraulic damper is reliable and smooth, especially after you break it in. It may not match performance of the benchmark LEV, but at $175, how could it? The biggest drawback is that the sealed damper must be serviced by the company; though it has proven to be extremely reliable. Cable and remote set-up is straight-forward, and a single bolt, grooved, 20mm offset rail clamp is generic, but truly functional. We carry the 100mm E-Ten in 30.9mm and 31.6mm versions, with a 385mm total length.

The E-Ten remote post is the perfect first dropper for trail riders who haven't made the change yet. While it doesn't overwhelm, keep in mind that 3-4 years ago, the features, performance and weight would have placed this post in the upper tier. You get a solid dropper post, with remote functionality, and reasonable 100mm travel from a brand you can trust and also happens to have a California based support and service facility.
