Wippermann ConneX 10s8 Nickel 10 Speed Chain
The Connex 10s8 has a 5.9mm pin length and 2.2mm roller width so it is compatible with all current 10-speed systems including Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo. The chain is plated with a high grade nickel layer to protect the chain against corrosion. We have found the nickel coating also allows easier chain cleaning.
All Wippermann chains are supplied with their famous Connex link that allow the chain to be installed and removed in a few seconds without any tools.

This chain is a noticeable improvement over the IRD 10 speed chain I had been running. I have used Wippermans in the past with good results, so I should not have been sorprised by the smooth shifting and silent operation that I experienced with this chain. Did I mention that the Connex Master Link aids greatly in the ease of cleaning?

I installed this chain on my Cervelo with Ultegra 10sp. After minor adjustments to cable tension and the b screw, this chain shifts perfectly; crisp and precise. Just what youd expect from Wippermann. I also use Dumonde Tech chain lube, which seems to make a difference.

Sure I was wary upon buying this chain, as I had always used Campy chains before, but I needed a chain I could take off and on without any special tools (I use it on my Campy Record 10sp equiped road bike equiped with s&s couplers for travel). After a few hundred miles all I can say is that this chain gets the job done. It shifts ok. Is it as quiet and smooth on a Campy drivetrain as a Campy chain is? Ofcourse it isnt. Is it as quiet and smooth on a Shimano drivetrain as a Shimano chain is? Probably not. What it has going for it is user serviceability. The connex link makes things a whole lot easier taking the chain off and on, and this chain is cheap compared to the cost of other 10sp chains. If you dont want to have to take your bike into a shop each time you need a chain replacement or buy special replacement links and pins and buy a super expensive tool, the Wippermann is the way to go.

Absolutely a huge dissapointment compared to campy specific chain.

I have used wippermans with campy 10 speed for years. And they were great. This new chain is terrible. And I will be going back to campy. This new design that works with all 10 speed really shifts very badly and does not inspire any confidence in hitting shifts in races when neede. This is a big step backward for wipperman.
