Assos sJ.blitzFeder Shell
From the outset, the sJ.blitzFeder Jacket looks like a standard lightweight shell. Upon further inspection, you will see it is so much more. It is the lightest shell in its class, weighting in at a scant 96 grams (for a size medium) and can be compressed down to a tiny ball that could fit in the palm of your hand for storage. Perhaps what is most noteworthy is the breathability the garment provides. It offers the perfect blend of wind and water repellency vs. ventilation and perspiration release. Add these elements together with Assos's anatomical fit and you get what many consider to be the best shell available to date.
All this is made possible by the proprietary Foil043TM fabric. It was developed at the ASSOS Textile Laboratory Lugano. This is the skunk works development lab responsible for all of Assos textiles and fabrics. These fabrics are not commercially available and are exclusive to Assos products, like the blitzFeder.
Foil043TM is a super thin and tightly woven blend that provides wind and water proofing through the weave itself. Assos claims that the vest provides smart protection. Meaning, it offers proper levels of wind and water repellency keeping the garments breathing capacity in mind. It is a perfect choice for light insulation against wind, light rain and chill. The blitzFeder is a go-to 3 season piece for any environment. If you live in a warm climate it will serve you for fall, spring and winter and if you live in a colder climate it can be used for summer, fall and spring. Either way you slice it, this vest is a winner.
Other salient points are what you will notice when riding. The vest is quiet. There is no rustling or flapping at speed - a major issue with any shell. The pattern cut fit is made to perform while on the bike. Put the shell on, zip it up and get on your bike. As soon as you assume the cycling position, the shell comes to life.
Assos hits another homerun with the blitzFeder shell. And like other Assos products, there is a significant investment up front, but what you get is a well thought out and designed garment that will last a lifetime if cared for properly.

Wow, finally got to use my Xmas present. An amazing emergency jacket, it is a great piece of clothing from the best manufacturer of cycling gear. It rolls up small and is so light. This is a must have...

Typical of Assos, this jacket is simply amazing. It is lightweight, yet on a cold damp ride I was warm and dry with only a simple baselayer underneath (polartech). On a cold day you can stay warm (jersey and arm warmers work great underneath), then when it starts to warm up, you can unzip until you are ready to take it off; it is thin and light and stuffs nicely into the jersey pocked. You look at it and think that it could not possibly keep you warm, but it does. If you think this jacket is pricey and are not sure, just buy it; it is great in so many conditions, making it extremely versatile. I have Assos gear that is 10 years old, and it is like new. There is no other make I have tried that comes even close to Assos, and the haBu is one of my favourites. When you first put it on, it will seem small at the front, but when you get into riding position, it fits perfectly - it is designed with your bike position in mind. An awesome jacket.
