Description

Japan's cycling industry has long been a source of reliable performing bike parts made with excellent materials, quality bearings and simple, classic design. It is true that many of these designs mimic early Campagnolo offerings. With all due respect to Shimano, many Japanese companies and cyclists have long fetishized the Italian company's sleek components. The MKS Sylvan series pedals all resemble Campy items. At this point however, perhaps Campagnolo has strong respect for companies like MKS, who have producing these popular Sylvan Track pedals for decades.

The body of the pedal is constructed from polished aluminum while the attached cage is anodized and hardened steel. This cage has a limited texture edge on the rim one side of the pedal cage which was intended to be used with clips and straps. There is enough purchase for riders who run the pedal bare, but keep in mind, this was designed as a single sided pedal. The chromed steel axle is stiff and stout and turns on good quality, adjustable bearings. The Sylvan Track is constructed in the Mikashima Industrial Company (MKS) factory in Japan, on the same machining tools and equipment as it has been for the past 40 years. These are a top choice of fixie and singlespeed riders around the world for the classic look and inherently reliable performance in all conditions.
