Many riders know this product as the Pearl stem. Nitto had some legal hassles with the name and it is now re-branded as the NP stem (which we presume stands for Nitto Pearl). The only change is the script Pearl name no longer adorns the stem's extension, as it has been replaced with the engraved Nitto wordmark. Beyond this, all else remains the same.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, the one inch threaded steerer tube ruled the land. And during it's reign, you were required to use a quill-style stem to complete the front end of your trusty steed. Sometimes, what's old is new again, and that's the case with Nitto's NP stem. In the past few years, we've witnessed a renaissance of sorts, for renovation and resurrection of older classic steel frames, as well as L'Eroica bikes that use this classic standard. Be that as it may, we're happy to report that we're back in the quill stem business. Beyond the stem, Nitto offers several high quality alternative bar options, that mate perfectly with the Pearl to complete the package.

Two things are true now as it was back then. Nothing matches the beauty of a cold forged quilled stem, and there is no better cold forged quill stem than the Nitto NP stem. Hand forged in small quantities, then cleaned and polished to a high luster, this beauty is timeless. The clamp is the classic 25.4mm diameter. 25.4mm measures exactly 1", which was the old English standard. That being said, the NP is only compatible with 25.4mm bars (and is not compatible with 26.0mm bars).
